4. Practice of overcoming "of double morals" in preventive work
|
Abstracts
One of the main features of Soviet culture was double moral standards. Everybody claimed that they support communism ideology
(which was nice in theory), but real behavior was far from general declarations, while nobody felt guilty about this because common culture approved such double
standards. In post-soviet countries people, even young ones still live with such double
standards. Members of youth subcultures, which claim they are alcohol free, are very tolerant to drinking of their
leaders. Members of youth subculture "hopniki", which claim that they support traditional values could be drug
users. Only small part of youth subcultures really follows their attitudes to alcohol and
drugs.
Main feature of alcohol and drug prevention in post-Soviet countries is to teach students to declare anti-drug position at lessons and ignore their real
behavior. In such situation informative forms of prevention could not be
successful. ADIC-Ukraine develops new prevention method called "life situation
method". It deals with real life situations where alcohol and drugs are involved and permits teenagers to discuss double standards and other
problems. This method could support development of real alcohol and drug free sub-cultures and changes in other youth
sub-cultures.
